De Grummond Children’s Literature Collection

I visited the De Grummond Children Literature Collection. This collection was started back in 1966 by Dr. Lena de Grummond, professor of Library Science at the University of Southern Mississippi.  I was really impressed with all the books and the draft of the books, and the sketch of the drawings. Also there is a collection of coins that were awarded to the writers in the Children’s Book Festival. I enjoyed it; I love the part of Curious George by H.A. Rey, I was surprised when I found out that H.A. Rey was among the first ones to donate his works to the collection. There they have a big monkey dressed up with the golden team colors. There are many drawings and books from so many other authors, but there is one that caught my eyes; it was from someone with the last name Brown with the red riding hood. I also discovered that there are so many version of the Cinderella, Red Riding Hood, over 500 maybe around 700 versions of then. I will like to take my kids and show this collection to them, I know they will be fascinated and hopefully they will be inspired by this authors.
